Jane Poynter, CEO of World View

Jane Poynter wants you to take a trip to space that’s as comfortable as a luxury cruise. As CEO of World View,  she’s been developing a solution for space tourism that relies on a huge helium balloon.

The balloon takes six passengers (along with two crew members) up 20 miles, high enough that you can see the curvature of the Earth, but 40 miles below sub-orbital space. And while tickets are expensive at $75,000 a pop, they’re still significantly cheaper than alternatives like Virgin Galactic, which will run you $250,000.

Dreaming

Don’t blind yourself!

In today’s globalism and more than ever interconnected domains of our daily lives, for whoever wants to prosper, having the most appropriate Public Affairs & Communication Strategy is now vital. Public, private, corporate or institutional entities are no exceptions.

Public policies and regulatory environment are more complex than ever and in a world where instantaneous communications can turn any minor issues into major problems, success in any field of activity, whatever the product, the service, the cause, the ideology or idea, is nothing else and everything about designing the most appropriate strategy to sell, move and promote.

Empowering yourself is no exception.

Social Media Ads: Worth It or a Waste of Money?

Social Media Ads eat cash for breakfast

Facebook, LinkedIn, Tumblr, YouTube, Twitter and many other social media sites are all offering some form of advertising packages for businesses and individuals. The question is: “Is it worth it or a waste of money?”

Mixed reviews

Many of my viewers are telling me that they find these types of ads extremely helpful, while others, like myself, are telling otherwise. The real challenge resides in the fact that you can’t genuinely separate followers resulting from the ad from the followers you would get anyway or otherwise. Another challenge resides in the difficulty to distinguish bogus followers from true followers. The anonymity of the results is also a big negative. There is no engagement breakdown, the same person could have clicked on the tweet five times.

After having very carefully targeted your audience and defined your goal, the only way to know if any of these social media ads work for you and are worthy of spending is to try it out and experiment. Before deciding that it may be worth investing some of your hard earned money in any social media ads program, just make sure that you know who you are trying to reach, why you are doing it, how to do it and that you have sufficient time to follow up on your investment.

You want to give it a try!

Whatever you decide to do, just remember:

You will need a big budget to see any real impact. If you are a start-up or small and medium sized enterprise with a small or non-existent budget, your money will be definitely better spent elsewhere: Social Media Ads eat cash for breakfast; even with careful targeting, your money will drain long before seeing any positive return on your investment. Just remember that tweets without images have a far smaller engagement rate. A lot of your clicks will come from people clicking the image to see where it is coming from or what it says. As far as I am concerned, for purely traffic purposes, Social Media Advertising is a waste of time, money and energy.

Cheers and Ride On!

Adaptation and Survival

True knowledge is nothing else than adaptation and survival.

Since the beginnings, past civilizations and cultures all rose and fell on the margin of ecology. Today, urbanizing our ecology, we have created and still are creating something very unique in the history of mankind: an urban order no one can walk away from, nor anyone survive.

Despite the sayings of all ancient wisdom writings and ancient scriptures, knowledge doesn’t grow on trees. True knowledge is knowledge of truth. There is a fundamental differentiation between reality and our perception of reality, between the true nature of reality and our opinion on the true nature of reality, between true reality and our perception of the reality.

Let it be said that the end of human life is the end of the world beyond which is nothing. This is evolutionary thinking. Human existence and human activity make a world where otherwise there is nothing. The very laws of nature are the outcome of an everlasting evolution. To think otherwise is nothing else than pure intellectual masturbation. Modern urban masses can no longer be well governed by old ancient history, old ancient principles or medieval methods. In today’s world, scientific objectivity shall prevail on the spiritual and magical. Good lying no longer makes good knowledge. Rational over theological and philosophical is now the rule. Replace “faith” with “knowledge” and you have the guiding idea of Truth and Enlightenment, of the true nature of Reality.

Spirituality does not determine human existence. It is our social existence, which determines our reality. In today’s world, esoteric and spiritual contemplation as well of all other forms of intellectual masturbation will always only result in derivation, antisocial behaviors, prejudices and bias. Maxims, morals, proverbial nuggets of wisdom, myths and wishful thinking will always result in an antisocial confrontational social world, perversion, chaos and destruction. Objectivity and rationality are the new fundamentals of knowledge that will drive us on a truly social and global world. To know is to enjoy and global social order can only result from true knowledge.

Today’s reality is very different from yesterday’s reality. Today’s reality is the now-global human environment. Knowledge is realistic not because it imitates reality but because it contributes to the political realism expressed in the preference for knowledge, for true knowledge.

The Internship

Internship

Generation i

Temporary, unregulated and often unpaid, the internship has become the route to professional work

Sep 6th 2014 | From The Economist

Today, internship is becoming the first step to a white-collar career. What does this mean for employers, and for the next generation of employees?

Unpaid internships are becoming the norm.

These days, no one is going to pay if they don’t have to. Perhaps not coincidentally, the number of unpaid internships has grown just as hiring has become riskier, pricier and more complex. In recent years anti-discrimination and unfair-dismissal rules have been tightened, and minimum wages raised, in many rich countries. The growing cost of benefits such as pensions, health care and maternity leave makes employees more expensive. Interns have therefore become an appealing alternative.

Employers do not need to worry too much about how they give out internships, either. Internships can even be bought and laws are also being changed to illuminate the legal twilight in which interns operate. Some European countries are changing their laws to accommodate internships. In Italy a labour-market reform passed in 2012 mandated pay for interns of at least €300 per month, rising to €600 in some regions. Spain has introduced “training and apprenticeship contracts” of up to three years, under which workers are paid a lower wage while they learn the ropes. Some firms are now rethinking their unpaid schemes.

Last month Bell Mobility, a big Canadian mobile-phone firm, scrapped its unpaid internship programme, a year after a former intern had sued it (unsuccessfully) for back-pay. Some media companies have started paying their previously unpaid interns. Others are simply wording advertisements more carefully, rather than changing working conditions.

Change is slow. In the meantime internships, instead of being a foot in the door for youngsters of all backgrounds, can be a barrier to those who lack the connections to get them or the finances to forgo pay.

Bashar al-Assad, Hilary, Hilary Clinton, Syria

Bashar Al-Assad has won

Bashar Al-Assad

Right one more time!

As I already have predicted it on 16 March 2012, last Tuesday, capturing another seven-year term in the middle of a bloody three-year-old uprising against his rule that has devastated the country, Bashar Al-Assad, has been re-elected.

While Russia defends Al-Assad reelection as fair, the opposition and its Western allies, including the United States, have denounced the election as a farce.

What do I think?

Hilary would have made a better president and, this will be a never-ending story.

Will Hilary run?

Don’t be self-destructive: Power up your language!

First impression, Power up your language, Self destructive behaviour, The power of words

Kellie-Pickler-Power-of-Words-Quote_620

“Never underestimate the power of your words” –

Kellie Pickler

“This situation is just impossible” “I will never figure this out?” “There is no way I could ever succeed” There is no way this could ever work” “This situation is hopeless”… etc.

All such words that you pronounce are most definitely conveying nothing else than desperation, victimization; and you are asking me why your sky is so dark?

Let it be known that it is a well-established fact that your subconscious interprets what it hears very literally. For better or worse, the words you think and speak create your reality. It is through language that you bring your reality into being.

The words you speak are, are their core, a self-fulfilling prophecy. Whatever direction your words lead, your mind and body will follow. You want to feel more love, joy, time, peace, friendship, influence, accomplishment, or control? Stop thinking and speaking in ways that limit what you can accomplish, who you can become and your day-to-day experience of life; Speak and think only that which you truly desire to become your daily reality. Continually making declarations about yourself or your circumstances that echo hopelessness, fear, anxiety and pessimism will only shape your reality in a negative way. The way you talk definitely and absolutely impacts the perception that others may have of you, how they will treat and value you.

You want to be perceived as a “powerful trustworthy individual” that can steer change and deliver results? Start talking the talk and stop sabotaging you life and jeopardizing your future by your own words: Power up your language, rewire your brain and reshape your negative patterns of thought and behaviour. The only thing standing between you and the preferred future you always dreamed of is the way you think, the way you talk about yourself.

You want a better tomorrow?

Start focusing on the words you speak and be vigilant: avoid speaking in terms that convey negativism and lack of confidence; speak in terms that convey confidence and commitment. Always speak in a positive way about yourself, about everything and rephrase all problems or difficulties into learning and growth opportunities. If you slip, no problem! Recommit and start again; each second of your life provides a second chance:

There is always a second chance to better yourself but never a second chance to make a first good impression.

Overwhelmed?

Acting, Planning, Thinking

Stop-Thinking-Too-Much-

Stop thinking and do whatever it takes!

What do you do, when you no longer know what to do?

How many times over the years, have I been facing these situations where it looks that there was absolutely no tomorrow, that I had no longer anything to lose, these situations where planning was absolutely and totally non-practical and not to say unequivocally overrated and did I survive?

When facing the unknown, facing disaster, the more you plan, the more you plan, the more you prepare; the more you are facing certain death. There are no revenues coming in and, the longer you plan and prepare, the more certain someone will beat you to the punch introducing your great idea to the world before you or beating you to the finish line getting the job that you are so desperately trying to get.

Unless you have enough money in the bank to allow you to survive while you are thinking or need tens of millions to get underway, a full-blown business plan does not make any sense. Roll up your sleeves, define your niche, embrace hard work, act your way into learning and take a first step toward your goal. Pause and repeat building that learning into your next step and walk your way up.

What do you have to lose?

What Does It Take To Be Successful Today?

17 Saturday May 2014

Kindness, Passion, Self-control, Success

Success

Good Fortune is the most elusive part of Success

First, realize that people do not care about you as much as you think they might and that the people who truly care about you are not interested in your accomplishments and possessions. They are interested in you. When you find people who really care about you, do everything you can to hold onto them; they are your most precious assets, they will be your foundation.

Arranging your life around money will never bring you success. Focus on people who you care about, people who care about you, on your passion. Figure out what elicits certain responses from people, and you will be better able to favorably influence others in your favor. When you know how to speak to change someone’s mind, to instill confidence in someone, to quiet the fears of a child, then you will know firsthand what real power is all about.

Prepare for the unexpected and whatever your passion is, always make sure to fully understand the way things are working. While doing this, always keep up in mind that no amount of knowledge can prepare you for chaos that will inevitably hit you one day. Just always make sure to have a Plan B; you cannot let events and others define or tell you who you are.

Today, to become successful, there is no shortcut; you have to outperform the other guy, you have to outperform the competition. Always go beyond what is required and, when you will reach the top, start competing compete with yourself. Meantime, be self-aware. If you can see yourself the way others see you, you will be able to work with and get along with others more easily.

You want to move along and differentiate yourself from others, just remember that biases always affect everything you do. Your worldview works its way into every decision you make. If you know your biases, you can minimize acting selfishly and do what is right for the situation. Living in the present will keep you focused. Accept that the past cannot be changed, and everyday that goes by, make the most of what is in front of you.

Except for errands and petty tasks, do not surround yourself with “yes-men”; avoid them as much as possible. Only people who are very different from you can benefit you and enrich your life by providing new perspectives and learning experiences. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people will not only limit your creativity, it will impair it by denying you of all form of possible challenges.

Keep an open mind and if possible, travel and travel even more. Not only will it expose you to other ways of thinking, of living or doing things, it will also provide you with new perspectives on life, it will take you out of your comfort zone and allow you to challenge your own personal beliefs. Never take anything for granted. It is important to keep taking risks to investigate all possibilities until you find your passion.

Take care of your health and protect your reputation. You cannot focus on being successful if you are continually indulging your vices or ignoring health problems that are the potential cause of all your possible setbacks. Above everything else, your reputation must be protected. Guard your reputation; make it your first priority to be honest, reliable, and kind, and others will notice and reward you with their trust.

Control yourself; always stay in control of your emotions. Anger or panic should never impair decision-making process; a knee-jerk reaction can destroy a lifetime of efforts and work in one moment. Forgive others and forgive yourself. Strangers and loved ones alike will always hurt and disappoint you in some way; this is a fact of life. React accordingly, react appropriately but never hold grudges.

Life is short and we live in a world much bigger than ourselves. There is a lot we do not know, a lot you do not know. Nobody knows everything. Always seek the greater purpose. Think strategically. Think systemically. Use a sense of urgency to make the most of your time. If there is a task you can delegate to someone better suited for it, then do it. If there is a discussion about something you are not sufficiently knowledgeable about, resist the urge to jump in. Be honest with yourself. If you are to grow as a person, it is important to see unpleasant things for what they are.

Success is a choice; your choice. Success is a decision; your decision. Choosing to be successful and optimistic, regardless of the situation, yields more happiness than negativity. Everyone is afraid of failing; everyone hurts somehow. Nothing is perfect in this world and truthfully enough, unlike in the movies, the good guys do not always win.The successful ones know how to accept their fears and keep anxiety from restraining them.

Good fortune is the most elusive aspect of success; only confidence in yourself will take you places. Believe in yourself and be kind to everyone. People will believe and trust you; they will reward you with their trust.

Moving forward is the key to success.

Content Marketing and Media Exposure

Content Marketing

Expand your credibility: Syndicate your content!

Media generally does not generally pick up content and content never goes viral on its own.

You are already involved in content marketing; here is what to do next.

Your first critical step is to build your media network. Seek out all what you can about the people who write about the topics you are interested in. Get to know these people. Share their content. Bring them story ideas even when you have nothing to gain personally from them. Most journalists and bloggers use Twitter to find their stories. You absolutely have to be connecting with them on Twitter. Journalists and bloggers can help spread the word especially when your story is relevant and interesting to their audience.

A picture is worth a thousand words; optimize your visual assets. For every article, find a picture, an illustration that delivers the message that you want to convey, an illustration that speaks to the reader, that drives the nail down. Use descriptive filenames for your illustrations, optimize your alt tags, and use image site maps to ensure your visual assets are findable.

Over and above everything else, think strategically, think systemically; think of your content as being a part of a greater project: Getting the Maximum, the Greatest Exposure Possible and never let a story die. Always come up with at least three follow-up articles referring back to the original story and syndicate your content. If you’re putting time and effort into developing your own stories, syndicate your blog content.

It definitely helps expand your reach and credibility with media when you are appearing in mainstream media outlets. Target International Press, media outlets that translate articles from one language to another, like AP, AFP, Thompson Reuters, Dow Jones, and IDG. If you’re appearing in these massive publications, you will have no trouble attracting smaller, international local news outlets. Finally, Do not neglect Traditional Media. Coverage by the traditional medias always turns out to be a great driver for more press pickups. Today, all television and radio stations also have digital outlets and are still incredibly effective for authority building.

Make sure you know everywhere the content will end up so you can promote it through your own social and email marketing channels.
